Lionel Ward is a bookseller of more than 30 years and organiser of the Taunton Literary Festival. He has written a series of mysteries about a bookseller turned accidental sleuth. Central to the story are the characters of Elliot Todd the bookshop owner, his main employee, Esther, the subject of his unrequited love, the eccentric but loyal Aggie, his interfering mother Elizabeth and his history mad friend Cameron. They are written with warmth and humour and contain many a literary allusion.
